The inaugural ODOT Civil Rights Symposium on April 11-12 in Columbus was an overwhelming success. The event featured Keynote Speaker Martin Luther King III, Honored Guest Joyce Beatty (U.S. Congresswoman, Ohio 3rd Congressional District), and former U.S. Transportation Secretary Mary Peters. All of the speakers, presenters, entertainment, honorees, and attendees combined to make this event memorable and impactful. Ohio’s first-ever Civil Rights Symposium for Transportation explored the value that diversity and inclusion brings to both the industry and the state. During this two-day event, thought leaders from business, government, and academia led discussions on issues related to contracting, business development, regulatory compliance, and the future of transportation.
