U.S. Army Corps of Engineers - Buffalo District; Ohio Area Office/Main Office Structural Assessment
Cleveland, OH
Dynotec conducted a detailed structural analysis of reinforced concrete (RC) columns and beams at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Cleveland Area Office.

The inspection focused on visible exterior structural elements to determine the extent of deterioration and ensure the building remained structurally sound. Each RC column in Building 1 was carefully inspected for cracking and spalling, and sounding tests were performed to evaluate the concrete’s integrity. Key areas of focus included the ground-floor beams, second-floor beams, roof beams, and RC columns along Grid Lines 1, 2, and 3. All major deficiencies were documented to establish a clear path forward for rehabilitation planning.

Dynotec’s team followed a project-specific quality control plan, with each deliverable reviewed by both a professional engineer and senior professional engineer under the oversight of a Quality Control Manager. The project was tracked in Microsoft Project, updated with each submittal, and delivered ahead of schedule while staying within budget. Collaboration with USACE Buffalo District staff and facility personnel during field investigations ensured smooth execution and timely completion.

The Result: Dynotec’s structural assessment provided USACE with a comprehensive understanding of the Cleveland Area Office’s reinforced concrete condition, confirming the facility’s overall soundness while identifying targeted deficiencies for future rehabilitation. The project was praised for its technical quality, efficient scheduling, and cooperative project management.
